WHAT IS THE WORKSHOP SESSION?
After the event on Friday, September 13, we will be holding a workshop session for people who want to experience what our divers go through. You will be taught by some of the World Series divers how to jump off 5m and 10m heights into the water. We will not be providing swimsuits or wetsuits so please come prepared if you're brave enough to plunge into the Welsh waters. All participants taking part in the workshop session will have to sign a disclaimer. If you are under 16 you will need parental consent to take part.
FAQs FOR BOATS AND WATERCRAFT
Can I get on the water with a boat or watercraft to watch the event?
If you are a ticket holder you can watch the event from dry land. If you want to bring a boat or watercraft then you need to enter the Blue Lagoon from the water through the thin channel that enters the lagoon from the sea (to do this you do not need a ticket).
What kind of boat or watercraft is permitted?
There is a size restriction on the type of boat or watercraft you can get into the Blue Lagoon due to the entry channel from the sea. To enter the lagoon by boat you need to come in through a small channel that is cut in the rock from the sea. The lagoon is only accessible by boat around high tide.
Boats entering the lagoon should be no longer than 4.5 metres in length and have a suitable draft to fit through the entry channel. At high tide, the maximum draft of boat that can enter is approximately 3 feet, however this depends on the height of the tide.
Anyone bringing a boat is responsible for checking that their boat is suitable to enter the lagoon and it is strongly advised that you check the water entry point to the lagoon before the event.
How do I get my boat or watercraft to the water and into the Blue Lagoon?
There are a number of options depending on the type of boat or watercraft.
For light watercraft that don't require trailers and are easily carried, you can park in the event car park and then carry your craft down to Abereiddy where you can launch and paddle around to the entry to the lagoon. Please be aware that you will be paddling in the open sea and it is your responsibility to be safe and within your ability when doing so.
Alternatively, if your watercraft does not require a trailer but is not so easily carried, there is the possibility of parking in Abereiddy car park and launching from there. Please note Abereiddy car park is a small public car park and not reserved for the event. This car park regularly gets very full and it is suggested that if possible you avoid this and use the event car park.
Do not take a trailer down to Abereiddy car park as the road is unsuitable and there is no way to launch a boat by trailer from there.
For boats or watercraft that require a trailer you need to launch your boat somewhere that is suitable for this. The closest option is Porthgain. Please note that Porthgain is very small with very limited parking and like Abereiddy may become full.
Do not take a trailer down to Abereiddy car park as the road is unsuitable and there is no way to launch a boat by trailer from there.
From Porthgain you can travel south in the sea to the Blue Lagoon. Please be aware that you will be in the open sea and it is your responsibility to be safe and within your ability when doing so.
Do I need a ticket if I am in the water?
If you are in the water with a boat or watercraft you do not need a ticket, however please note you will need to remain in your boat or watercraft for the duration of watching the event as all the viewing areas on land will be full of ticket holders.
Once I'm in the water watching can I get out of my boat and still watch the diving?
Unfortunately not, you will need to remain in your boat or watercraft for the duration of watching the event as all the viewing areas on land will be full of ticket holders.
Can I bring a boat on a trailer down to Abereiddy?
No, please do not take a trailer down to Abereiddy car park as the road is unsuitable and there is no way to launch a boat by trailer from there.
If I'm bringing a boat or watercraft what time should I arrive?
We estimate carrying a canoe from the event car park to Abereiddy beach will take about 15 minutes. Allow 25 minutes to launch your watercraft from Abereiddy beach and to enter the Blue Lagoon. Please factor these times into your travel plans.
What are the tide times?
The tide times are as follows:
High water on Friday is at 13.21
High water on Saturday is at 15.01
