Six-time world champion Sébastien Loeb has sealed a comfortable victory in the Rally Bulgaria, as Citroen enjoyed a lock-out of the top four positions.
Loeb led the rally from the first stage and finished 29.5 seconds ahead of his team-mate Dani Sordo in second. The win stretches his lead at the top of the FIA Drivers’ standings to 51 points as he looks to retain his title.
"It's been perfect - a very good first day, then the second day had difficult conditions, it was important to just keep the rhythm and not make any mistakes, not take any risks," Loeb said.
The battle behind Loeb was a lot tenser as Sordo finished just 6.8 seconds ahead of Petter Solberg. The pair trading fastest stage times in three of the day’s four tests before the Spaniard prevailed.
Sébastien Ogier meanwhile, recovered from going off the road on the opening day to finish fourth and complete the best world championship finish for a manufacturer since the Safari Rally in 1993. The Frenchman will step up from the Junior Team to the factory squad for the next round in Finland.
Former Formula One world champion Kimi Räikkönen also enjoyed a strong finish to end 11th. The Finn lost time after a crash on the last of Friday’s stages but battled back through the field.
