Voilà! The Cliff Diving World Series kicked off in France and it was quite an event. I really saw a great increase in the standard of dives compared to the opening competition in La Rochelle last year. I love to see people going for new dives and pushing the sport to new limits.
It really was a superb competition to start off the season. Myself, Orlando and Kent were incredibly close going into the last round and when I heard the scores of Orlando's last dive, I must admit, it had me worried! Fortunately I managed to impress the judges enough to receive three 10s and take the first stop of the tour.
Now the focus is on Mexico, it's going to be a totally different environment. La Rochelle was the perfect stop for bringing in the big crowds, whereas Mexico is all about the location. We will be diving into a 40m-deep well in the ground, said to be made by a meteorite and to hold sacred powers! So expect to see some spectactular dives and, for sure, a very exciting competition.
