Now is the summer of our disco tents. We scour the world for the latest news of who will be lighting up the 2010 festival season...
BESTIVAL, the carbon-neutral boutique festival on the idyllic Isle of Wight, has announced a stellar list of names who'll be performing this year, with newly confirmed acts include Dizzee Rascal, The Flaming Lips, Hot Chip (pictured), LCD Soundsystem, Gil Scott-Heron, Chase & Status, Vitlaic, Ellie Goulding, Echo and the Bunnymen, Simian Mobile Disco, Delphic, Rolf Harris and Marc Almond. Bestival will be staged at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, UK, from September 9-12.
Faithless, Gossip, Vitalic, La Roux, and Florence And The Machine have been added to the bill for ROCK WERCHTER, Belgium's biggest rock festival. The fun takes place in the small village of Werchter (about 30km from Brussels) from July 1-4. These bands join the self confirmed Jack Johnson, and the previously announced main stage acts of Pearl Jam, Muse, Green Day, Rammstein and Pink.
The big news this week is the announcement of the three main headliners at this year’s GLASTONBURY. U2 had already put themselves out there as Friday's bill toppers, and now Muse are doing Saturday with the legendary Stevie Wonder heavily rumoured to be ending things on the Sunday. A few other names are floating around confirming themselves for the festival that runs June 23-27, including Corinne Bailey Rae, Hot Chip (again), Vampire Weekend and Jack Johnson.
The line-up for BONNAROO in Tennessee is due to be announced next week, but already confirmed are festival favourites The Flaming Lips. Wayne Coyne et al have revealed they plan to play their version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety – something they last did at their New Year's Eve concert in Oklahoma. Bonnaroo will be held on June 10-13 in Manchester, Tennessee.
And there's been a bit of a 90s revival this week with the announcement that Suede have reformed for Teenage Cancer Trust shows, Black Grape are back for Get Loaded In The Dark and the peerless Leftfield will reform to play at ROCK NESS in Scotland this June. The bill is expanding as we speak, with headliners The Strokes and Soulwax having already been announced.
