Climber Angy Eiter warmed up for her world cup campaign with a win in Briancon, France last weekend while Kilian Fischhuber finished fourth in Munich, Germany to secure second in the final Boulder World Cup standings.

Eiter made a late decision to compete in Serre Chevalier as preparation for her upcoming world cup events and it was a decision that paid dividends. Despite several appearances in the event, she had yet to win it prior to last weekend.

It was a different story this time around though as she made a strong start, grabbing two tops in qualifying before becoming the only woman to do so in the tricky semi-final. Eiter then secured victory with a thrilling climb to the top in the final.

“I’m really satisfied with my performance, it was a real fight,” she said. “I was able to top all routes and stand up to the pressure. This is definitely one of my happiest moments in my life!”

Meanwhile, in Munich Fischhuber claimed his seventh-successive top two finish in the Boulder World Cup after finishing fourth in the Olympia Stadium. With two wins apiece over the season, the Austrian and Adam Ondra went head-to-head for the overall title.

As expected the two met in the final, however, Fischhuber struggled as his Czech opponent reached the top to secure victory in Munich and overall. Despite finishing second overall, Kilian can be happy with his season where he chalked up three podiums as well as his two wins amassing 450 points – a total that would have handed him the world cup in past years.
