A career in cliff diving is of course full of highs, but there are also quite a few lows. We asked diver Alain Kohl about his best day and worst day, one of which happened to be at the last Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series stop in La Rochelle...

Best Day

My best day was in France earlier this month. I never thought I could get on the podium with two flying fronts but it worked out well. I was really happy to get my first ever podium in a World Series after two and a half years. My next best day was probably in Norway last year when I came fourth. I was really stoked when I came out after the second dive. I saw I was fourth and was, like, ‘yeah, that’s nice!’

Worst Day

This was probably in 2007 in Italy when I broke my tailbone. That was a pretty bad day! I did a triple half and landed 45 degrees on my back. It was very painful, I could not sit down for two weeks. I couldn’t high dive for about a month after that either. Although I was able to get back to dive from the 10-metre board about a week or so later, every dive was so painful.
